This delightful Orange Yogurt Cake is one of those versatile treats that you can have for breakfast with your morning cup of coffee (tea for me!) or as a dessert with a side of ice cream. It’s dense and rich. Oh. So. Good.
Orange Yogurt Cake
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 tablespoons freshly grated orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup canola oil
1 cup plain whole milk yogurt
1/2 Naval orange, freshly squeezed
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
Heat oven to 350 °F. In a medium bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and the salt. In a larger bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, orange zest and , vanilla and oil. Whisk in the yogurt and continue to whisk until smooth. Fold in the flour mixture and whisk gently until combined. Grease a loaf baking pan and pour in orange cake batter.
Bake in heated oven 45-50 minutes until cake is done. Remove from oven and cool. Place the confectioners’s sugar in a medium bowl and whisk in the juice from the orange (2-3 tablespoons).
Drizzle over the Orange Yogurt Cake and allow to soak in and drizzle down the sides. Slice & serve.
I have to add that I enjoyed this deliciously dense orange yogurt cake on my back patio – along with the gorgeous summery weather!
Enjoy!

Wow this looks fabulous! I bet it would also be good with lemons, too, but orange is a nice change of pace. Your calibrachoa plant is gorgeous! I have three planters of them on my back deck. 🙂

Thanks! I have made this a few times with lemon and decided to use oranges this time! Both are delicious – I might try some other fruits in the future 😀😀😀

Great timing! I just got a whole bag of oranges and it looks like something I can make 🙂 Do you think it’ll make a huge difference if I use non-fat (milk) greek yogurt?
