My kids came home to visit this weekend and my son Dillon wanted to make something with me. I know this Focaccia Art is trending, so I suggested we try to make some ourselves. I took a shortcut on the dough and pulled most of the herbs out of my garden so it was simple and fun, not to mention delicious!
Focaccia Art
loaf raw frozen bread dough (we made two)
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup pecorino cheese
vine ripe tomatoes
parsley
scallions
chives
parsley
sage
red onion
kosher salt
celery salt
Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray the frozen dough with oil cooking spray, cover in a 9×9 dish and place in the refrigerator for 1 1/2 days. The dough will rise once, punch it down and let it rise again. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and stretch the dough out on a well oiled sheet pan. Use your finger tips to stretch and create divots. Cover the dough with a layer of cheese. Now time to play with your veggies – cut onion to look like blooms, make tomato flowers, herbs for grass and leaves. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Delicious!
Enjoy!
