This is a great dish to serve when you are having a crowd. Easy on the kitchen and it can be made in advance and kept warm in a crock pot. The boys just eat it up! The Asian seasoning rub and barbecue sauce gave this Pulled Pork a two thumbs up…
Asian Pulled Pork Barbecue Sandwich With Slaw
2 lb pork shoulder roast
1 Tbs Chinese Five Spice
1 Tbs onion powder
1 Tbs garlic powder
1 Tbs kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 400 °F. Mix all the spices together and liberally rub all over the meat. Cook in the oven covered for 30 minutes. Turn meat over and cook an additional 30 minutes at 400 °F. Remove and turn again lowering the heat to 325 °F and cook another hour; covered. Remove and turn again lowering the heat to 250 °F. Cook additional 30 minutes; covered. The meat should be falling off the bone at this point. With two forks, shred the meat and remove whatever fat you can.
Asian Style Barbecue Sauce
1 cup barbecue sauce of choice
1/2 cup onion diced
1 tsp Chinese Five Spice
1 Tbs Hoisin sauce
1 tsp garlic sauce
1 Tbs soy sauce
1 Tbs fresh ginger
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup water
Sauté onions until tender then stir in the rest of the ingredients. Set aside to cool; then process until smooth in a blender.
Slaw
1/2 head cabbage, shredded
1/2 tsp Chinese Five Spice
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 pinch of salt
Mix all the ingredients together and set aside.
Time to assemble the sandwich on your roll of choice. Delicious!
