Pear & Apple Crisp

This weather calls for a warm dessert…this Pear & Apple Crisp is just the ticket! When it’s in the oven, the aroma pulls everyone into the kitchen…serve up a plate and chat away! It’s great alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream…

Pear & Apple Crisp
2 Bosc pears, cored and diced
1 Red Delicious apple, cored and diced
1/4 cup dried cranberries
orange zest & juice
lemon zest & juice
sugar
cinnamon
nutmeg
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
2 tablespoons butter

Heat oven to 350 Β°F. In a large bowl, combine the pears, apples, cranberries, orange zest, 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice, lemon zest, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. Toss well.

Place pear and apple mixture into a shallow baking dish.Β In another bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, brown sugar, oats, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, dash of nutmeg and two tablespoons butter. Using a fork, mix until crumbly.

Sprinkle oat crumbles on top of pear & apple mixture and place in the heated oven. Bake one hour.

Remove from oven and cool slightly. Enjoy!

  1. Yum, yum!! Haven’t tried adding pears in mine but will from now on. And I even have a pear tree in my backyard. Mostly to appease the squirrels πŸ™‚ but hey, next year those pears will be mine! πŸ˜€
