This weather calls for a warm dessert…this Pear & Apple Crisp is just the ticket! When it’s in the oven, the aroma pulls everyone into the kitchen…serve up a plate and chat away! It’s great alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream…
Pear & Apple Crisp
2 Bosc pears, cored and diced
1 Red Delicious apple, cored and diced
1/4 cup dried cranberries
orange zest & juice
lemon zest & juice
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
2 tablespoons butter
Heat oven to 350 °F. In a large bowl, combine the pears, apples, cranberries, orange zest, 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice, lemon zest, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. Toss well.
Place pear and apple mixture into a shallow baking dish. In another bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, brown sugar, oats, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, dash of nutmeg and two tablespoons butter. Using a fork, mix until crumbly.
Sprinkle oat crumbles on top of pear & apple mixture and place in the heated oven. Bake one hour.
Remove from oven and cool slightly. Enjoy!
