Restaurant Review: OKA, Paris France

Tapioca Flour Cohita Rolls Mystery Menu Course One

Heidi and I love to go to restaurants! In fact, many times we recreate the food we enjoy in restaurants and serve it to our families as we’ve already shown you in some of our previous posts such as Mushroom & Sausage Risotto, Classic Shrimp ScampiSpringtime SangriaCrab Cake Sandwiches and Herb Roasted Marinated Chicken. In tribute to the many wonderful restaurants we visit we are adding a new series to our blog: Restaurant Review. In this series Heidi and I will review a restaurant that we have visited and share our feedback with you!

To start off the series I will be sharing some fabulous restaurants that my husband and I visited during our recent vacation in London, England and Paris, France. This first restaurant, OKA Gastronomia Franco-Brasileira is located at 28 rue de la tour D’Auvergne 75009 Paris. Less than a mile walk from our Hotel, the Marriott Ambassador, we traversed the streets of Paris enjoying the beautiful architecture and lively crowds to get to this French-Brazilian restaurant…

Reservations are required since the restaurant only has nine tables and they have to turn people away at the door!

Chef Raphael is an inspired chef with a real talent in the kitchen and the presentation of each course was stunning!

The lovely Marion, who met us at the door and showed us our table informed us right away that this restaurant has a blind menu. At â‚¬35 per person and five courses we were intrigued!

We were immediately offered a wine tasting flight for â‚¬35 per person or a bottle of wine. We chose a bottle of Cabernet Malbec to pair with our meal.

Our first course was a pair of Tapioca Flour & Comté Cheese Bite-Sized Rolls. Light and fluffy!

The second course, a Smoked Herring-Tapioca, Green Apple & Black Bean Foam was topped with a Creamy Mango Sorbet. Every bite of this unique course was divine!

For our third course, Marion brought us Pollack with Corn, Guava & Sesame in a Mandarin Foam. The Pollack was perfectly cooked and melted in our mouths and the corn mixture added such a wonderful flavor! Delightful!!

The fourth course was a Black Angus Picanha Steak & Cepe Mushroom Puree with a dab Yuzu Kosho Green Hot Pepper. The combined flavors was scrumptious!

Finally dessert! Our fifth course was a tasty concoction of Yuzu & Mango with Pineapple, Cocoa & Coriander. WOW! I would say they finished the meal with an absolute wonder! So unique and delicious.

I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable culinary experiences I have ever had! If you find yourself in Paris I would highly recommend to visit Chef Raphael and his staff’s little slice of heaven.

Join us next time we visit a great restaurant!

Thanks for visiting!

    1. Thanks! I hope the series is a hit 🙂 And my vacation was wonderful – I extended it pretty much until this morning…I really needed a break from the blog/emails – but now I’m recharged and rested and raring to go!
