Fresh Bruschetta & Toast

Fresh Bruschetta & Toast

I love this appetizer!!! Many years ago when I was living in Philadelphia, I extracted this recipe from a chef at a restaurant called Felicia’s. It was one of the best Italian restaurants in Philly at the time. It was even mentioned in the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Sad to say, I heard the restaurant closed which makes me even happier I have this recipe. I never wrote it down because I’ve made it so many times, but I’m writing it down for you today… Continue reading

Bacon Wrapped Pineapple in a Black Raspberry Soy Sauce

So simple and still the first appetizer to disappear at every party. It has become a constant request during the holiday seasons. I like to make them and freeze them on a cookie sheet and then store them in a big zip lock bag. When I have surprise guests or just need an appetizer, I pull out how many I need and pop them under the broiler. In 15 minutes I have a tasty ‘sweet & savory’ bite. I accompany this with a sweet and savory sauce and bingo… A Winner!    Continue reading

Garlic-Buttered Melted Mozzarella Bread

The other night we had spaghetti (again!) What’s a better side to pasta than delicious Garlic-Buttered Melted Mozzarella Bread? Not much! A salad is always great but a warm out-of-the-oven piece of garlicky-cheesy bread that you can dip into the sauce is so much better! I got the idea for this recipe from my sister-in-law Maria who makes a fantastic Mozzarella Garlic Bread. Here’s a wonderful and quite simple way to make it! Continue reading

Catering Event: The Menu Completed

Save The Date Catering Event / Rosemary Chicken Satay
Save The Date Catering Event / Rosemary Chicken Satay

For this catering event, Linda and I thought about dishes that could be prepared ahead and cooked on site. Chicken Satay is always a good go to appetizer and a great protein dish that individuals can pluck onto their plates. Linda and I marinated the chicken in a rosemary marinade for 24 hours. By preparing the chicken a day in advance it allowed for time management and serious flavor impact… Continue reading

Making these croissant sandwiches together as the Fabulous Fare Sisters was a lot of fun. Easy to assemble with just a little preparation done ahead. Having catered our own events for years, Linda and I know when catering it’s important to make some things that can be made days in advance. Here is how we prepared for these croissant sandwiches in advance… Continue reading

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms in a Barbecue Wine Sauce

I love making appetizers for dinner instead of a whole meal sometimes. In this case rather than make several small appetizer plates, I made one large appetizer that became a meal. My fabulous husband said it was out of this world and I have to agree with him. You can make this for a crowd with smaller mushrooms, or for an entree with larger mushrooms.    Continue reading

Vidalia Onion Dip

Heidi and I have an older sister named Bethann. She’s well-known in the family for making really good appetizers! Now I am not sure where this Vidalia Onion Dip originally came from, but many years ago Bethann shared her version with me. Her recipe called for Swiss cheese. I’ve made it with just about every cheese imaginable. My favorite by far is cheddar. You can substitute your favorite! This dip is great served on sliced Italian bread or toast points or simple crackers… Continue reading

Garlic, Onion Cake

fabulousfaresisters.com

This is a real show stopper… It may not look like it, but it is so good. And please don’t eliminate the anchovies, you can not taste them and they are essential for this dish. Once a month I get together with my friends for Wine Wednesday and when my friends ate this it was all over… This cake was gone! I wish I had made two, but 6 lbs of onion? Yikes… Continue reading

Some nights my Husband and I just like to have a few appetizers. This little dish is a real winner for us and a frequent request. It is full of flavor and a perfect little dish for appetizer night. I really hope you take the time to try this one, it never disappoints. I even made this for a surprise birthday we threw for Linda last summer! Remember this Linda?   Continue reading
