British Classic Steak & Ale Pie

On our first afternoon in London we visited Taylor & Walker’s Silver Cross Whitehall Pub located in the heart of London right off of Trafalgar Square. We were so excited to eat our first ‘English’ meal! We chose a British Classic – Steak & Ale Pie. They describe this pie on the menu as “A British classic with a Taylor Walker spin! 100% British beef, slow cooked in our rich 1730 pale ale gravy encased in crisp pastry. Served with mashed potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables and a jug of gravy.” Each pie was individually sized and so hearty and flavorful…

When we got home this classic made it to this week’s menu. A larger pie feeds a whole family. Everyone thought it tasted rich & hearty. The end result: Delicious! Continue reading

Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole

Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole 4

Today is MEATLESS MONDAY…But just let me just start this blog post today by saying… I miss my grandmother. My Grandmother Born in 1915,  daughter to Irish immigrants, She was a force to be reckoned with and an extraordinary woman. I’ve yet to meet her equal! Smart, ambitious, stylish,  strong and a giver to a fault. She passed away last November three months before she reached 100 years old. What a chic! Well… Dorothy Veronica Alexis O’ Flynn Kufczynski (If you can believe it!) absolutely loved my tuna noodle casserole, so making it brings her always into my heart. Linda and I would spend two weeks in the summer with grandma and she loved to introduce us to new things. Lassie on Broadway, the nasty subway, hot dogs and sauerkraut and alas, yoo- hoo. I remember her taking us Christmas shopping in July on Broadway, my first pair of designer jeans. Not sure if I took them off for a year. She bought each girl in the family their first piece of fine jewelry. Going back to college at 50 (wanting to know what all the fuss was about), she taught us that women didn’t have limits and that loving and respecting the men we loved was a beautiful thing.  Linda and I were both graced with spending a lot of time with her in her later years. Linda especially went out of her way to do for my grandmother what this priceless, stubborn and independent woman could no longer do for herself.  We miss you Grandma and we love you! So this is for you Dorothy…

Super Simple Crust-less Bacon, Broccoli and Two Cheese Quiche

Super Simple Crustless Bacon, Broccoli and Two Cheese Quiche

Weekends are the best! Monday through Friday I love making breakfast in bed for my hubby, but on the weekends we sleep a little longer, read and relax and enjoy a late breakfast. This morning I made a simple quiche that I discovered many many years ago from one of my mothers 1970’s cookbooks. After I made it about 20 times it dawned on me there was a little math breakdown that could be re-configured for more or less people. After that, I started really switching up what I put in it. Quiche is one of those things that you can add about anything to. This version is definitively lighter than a traditional quiche, yet flavorful and extremely versatile. I’ve served this dish with a salad at many women’s luncheons, and I’ve even made it with roasted garlic, English cheddar and crab meat… Continue reading

Garlic-Herb Delmonico Steaks & Caramelized Pear Salad

Date Night! Instead of going out, put the kiddos to bed (mine are all gone for the evening!), and heat up the grill for a special ‘Night In’!! I bought these Delmonico steaks at the Amish Market and seasoned them with the perfect blend of seasonings. Raf fired up the grill and had them ready in no time. Meanwhile I prepared a delicious caramelized pear & pecan salad with feta and mixed salad greens. Simple but very very flavorful. ENJOY!!    Continue reading

Seasoned BBQ Chicken & Feta-Cranberry-Walnut Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette

IMG_3502

There are a million and one ways to cook chicken…I think there are more chicken recipes than any other recipe! I try to serve it at least once or twice a week; chicken breasts one night and dark meat another. And since there are so many ways to cook it we don’t have to have the same chicken over and over again. But some recipes stick with you more than others. Like this one! Chicken thighs and drumsticks seasoned, roasted then slathered with bbq sauce. Moist & juicy! Who doesn’t like that? Served with a fabulous salad made with mixed greens, dried cranberries, feta & caramelized walnuts topped with an incredible Balsamic Vinaigrette…Let me know if you like them too! Enjoy!

Welcome!

Hello All! Welcome to our adventure. My sister Heidi & I are serious foodies!! We have spent decades between us not only enjoying fabulous fare in restaurants but creating and tweaking recipes to share our fabulous fare at home with all our loved ones.

I am Linda, the older sister…as youngsters, Heidi & I shared a room. We were up all night chit-chatting and plotting and planning! We decided to start a blog because even though we now live in separate states, we love to share our daily menus and recipes with each other. Our families enjoy our meals so much they’ve all said we should have our own restaurant, but alas, we’re too far apart, so by blogging we can share our love of food with you! Please enjoy this journey with us!
