Classic Banana Bread

I love the smell that fills the house when Banana Bread is in the oven! What a delicious use for over-ripe bananas. With or without nuts. With or without a slab of butter melting across a warm slice. Pure heaven!

Classic Banana Bread
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 stick softened butter
2 large over-ripe bananas
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Heat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt, eggs, butter, bananas and water. Using an electric mixer on low speed blend until everything is incorporated. Fold in walnuts or pecans. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake 55 minutes or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Enjoy!

  1. I agree with you Linda. Banana bread has an amazing delicious aroma while baking. Yours looks excellent. I am planning to bake two banana and Strawberry bread loaves tomorrow for gifting. Thanks for sharing the recipe👍🏻
