This is one of my favorite appetizers when we are in the city. I love to eat my tuna raw and when I am certain the tuna is super fresh I just chop it or pound it and eat it! Also to add to the simple excellence, I cut some square wontons in half and give them a super quick fry in some olive oil…Today Heaven!!!!
Tuna Tartare With Avocado and Pine Nuts
8 oz very fresh (or fresh frozen) Ahi Tuna
1 Tbs minced shallot
1/2 ripe avocado
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 toasted pine nuts
1 Tbs olive oil
salt & pepper
Take the fresh tuna and remove any sinew with the back of a sharp knife. Chop the tuna very fine. Add the shallots, lime juice, salt & pepper, olive oil and toasted pine nuts. Cut up the ripe avocado and mix that in too. Press in a ramekin to mold the mixture. Flip over on a plate while holding the plate over the ramekin. Serve with chips of wonton crackers. Hello…it was Divine!!!!
Enjoy!

So Delicious… It really is refreshing to dive into. I also bake the wanton wrappers with a little Pam and they are just as good.
