Instead of a plain old ham and cheese sandwich for lunch how about jazzing it up a little bit! For this splendid sandwich I’ve combined the classic ham and cheese with creamy avocado slices and the sharp bite of freshly sliced red onion…pressed between hearty ciabatta slices and slathered with a luscious peachy-vanilla mayo…then pressed to heavenly perfection…you’ll never go back to just ham & cheese again!
Tavern Ham & Avocado Panini
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Braswell’s Peach Vanilla dressing
butter
16 slices Tavern Ham
8 slices Cooper Sharp Cheese
1 ripe avocado, sliced
16 slices red onion (sliced very thin)
Roasted Garlic Ciabatta Bread Loaf, cut into 4 -4″ squares
In a small bowl whisk mayonnaise with the Peach Vanilla dressing. Slice each Ciabatta square in half. Butter the outsides of the top and the bottom. Slather the Peach Vanilla Mayo on the interior of the ciabatta slices. Heat a Grill Pan & Press Set (or skillet with grill marks) on medium high heat. Place the bottom ciabatta slices in the grill pan. Layer with tavern ham, cooper sharp cheese, avocado slices and thinly sliced red onions. Top with ciabatta slice and place Press Lid on top (or use a heavy weight to put pressure on sandwich). Cook 3-4 minutes on the first side. Flip over and cook an additional 3-4 minutes until nice and crispy.
Remove and slice. Makes 4 sandwiches. Delicious…Enjoy!

Note: Marino’s has a similar sandwich and it’s one of my favorites!

I bought the dressing at Shoprite…it’s the perfect compliment for the sandwich…have you ever been to Marino’s? It’s a great little place on Rt 45…good stuff! 🙂
