Years ago when we were young my mother would organize cookie making days during the Christmas season. She had a ton of wonderful cookie recipes that my sisters and I would make with her – it was so much fun! It’s been years since I’ve had to make more than a batch of cookies…but since I was recently invited to join in a Cookie Exchange Party I had the opportunity to make these delightful Christmas-time cookies that my mom used to make with us. What made it even more special is that I spent the day making these with my friend Kristin. Thank you Kristin for opening up your kitchen for a special day of cookie-baking!
Walnut Butterballs
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
confectioner’s sugar
Heat the oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, using a spoon, combine butter, vanilla, flour and walnuts. Shape into small balls. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until bottoms are golden. Roll in confectioner’s sugar while still warm. Recipe courtesy of Renee K. Pierce…thanks Mom!
I had to make about 8 dozen cookies so I adjusted the recipe accordingly. If you’re wrapping them up for a party…be sure to cool them before you pop them in the baggie!
Enjoy!
Linda~

Thank you! I love that they’re not too sweet like a traditional cookie and they melt in your mouth…the confectioner’s sugar adds just the perfect sweetness! 🙂

Question? There’s no sugar at all in the raw dough? Just rolled onto the cookie after baking?
