Malted Milk Brownies

Malted Milk Brownies

We had some leftover colored malted milk balls from Easter so we decided to turn them into Malted Milk Brownies for dessert. My son Gabe called them stupendous – thanks for the inspiration Gabe – so glad you loved ’em! Here’s hoping you love ’em too…

Malted Milk Brownies
1 stick margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspooon vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup malted milk powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Malted Milk Icing
1/2 cup malted milk powder
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons softened butter
3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
1 1/2 cup malted milk balls, crushed

Heat oven to 350 °F. In a large bowl, whisk together the margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla. In a second bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, malted milk powder, baking powder and salt. Whisk into the sugar mixture and combine well.

Spread brownie mixture into 13 x 9″ greased baking dish. Bake for 18-22 minutes. Remove brownies from oven and cool 20 minutes. Meanwhile prepare the Malted Milk Icing. In a bowl combine the remaining malted milk powder, milk, vanilla, softened butter and confectioner’s sugar. Whisk to combine.

Spread the icing on the cooled brownies. Top with chopped malted milk balls.

Enjoy!
