French Onion Sliced Sirloin Sandwich

This is one of those sandwiches that just melts in your mouth yet bursts with flavor…is that even possible? Yep..give it a try and you’ll see just how good a steak sandwich can be…

French Onion Sliced Sirloin Sandwich
1 1/2 lbs sirloin
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
extra virgin olive oil
2 vidalia onions, sliced
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup chicken stock
4 crusty rolls
3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
4 slices Swiss cheese

Place steak in a large dish. In a small bowl combine the garlic, steak seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Pour over steak and allow to marinate while cooking the onions.

Heat 1-2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet. Add sliced onions and heat on high until onions begin to sizzle. Reduce heat to medium-low; add thyme, salt and dash fresh ground pepper. Cook 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Heat a grill or a grill pan to high. Spray grill pan (if using) with cooking spray. Cook sirloin 4 minutes on first side; flip over and cook 2-4 minutes on second side depending on your preference.

Remove from heat and allow to rest a few minutes. Meanwhile, add chicken stock to the cooking onions; bring to a boil and allow to bubble until liquid is almost all evaporated. Slice the cooked steak thinly against the grain.

Heat oven to broil. Split crusty rolls. Spread both sides with mayonnaise. Layer with cooked onions, sliced steak, more cooked onions and cheese. Place on cooking sheet and broil 1-2 minutes until cheese has melted.

Enjoy!
