When I was in college at IUP ‘Indiana University of Pennsylvania’, there was this little pizza shop that a large population of the kids ordered from. The most popular item for the students on the menu and something I had never even heard of before was… ‘The Wedgie’. It was a pizza and a hoagie together. Well, on Friday night I made homemade pizza and I always make too much. So for lunch today I made it, that’s right, I made The Wedgie. The difference between mine and the pizza shop is I don’t use an already made round crust, so mine when finished isn’t exactly a wedge. However, it is still delicious and fun!
‘The Wedgie’
One medium pizza (homemade or store bought)
1/4 lb deli ham (I used black forest)
4 thick slices Muenster cheese
1 cup lettuce of desired choice
2 Tbs Italian dressing of choice
1/2 onion sliced thin
Preheat oven to 375 °F. Cut pizza in half and place on a cookie sheet. Place two slices of muenster on each side of the pizza and cook until cheese begins to melt and pizza is heated through. Place on a cutting board and place deli ham on one side and lettuce, dressing and onion on other half. Place one pizza half on top of other pizza half. Slice like a sandwich and serve.
This is a fun and delicious lunch for the kid in all of us.
Enjoy!

We love Wedgies and often get them from our local pizza shop on lazy Friday evenings at home! I always laugh to myself when ordering 🙂
